Child Education guarantees the growth of a nation.

Every child has the right to education. Innumerable children all over the globe are not learning because of crippling issues such as poverty, discrimination, quality of child education, or because they are too hungry to consider education. These children drop out of school even before they acquire basic skill sets and the knowledge needed to thrive within the social milieu. Poor child education decreases a child’s eagerness to attend school because it leads to poor physical health and motor skills, diminishes a child’s ability to concentrate and remember information, and therefore, reduces overall attentiveness, interest and motive.

Education transforms children’s lives by helping them overcome poverty, which leads to better health and increased income opportunities. Because of poor child education, many underprivileged and impoverished children remain trapped in a life of poverty and hardship. Children on the streets are kept away from educational opportunities because their parents are unaware of their benefits; however, various non-governmental organisations have made meaningful efforts to correct this predicament.

To counter poor child education, one of the nation’s best child rights NGO, Save the Children, runs centres in Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai with the education of street children in India as its core purpose. Along with child education, the emphasis is also given to psychosocial support and counselling. In Mumbai, Save the Children takes learning into the streets through a ‘Ride to School’ programme, which uses a Mobile Learning Centre with benches, a blackboard, a library, games, and a TV-DVD player that provides them with a classic school environment. This initiative is an attractive proposal to encourage them to leave their life in poverty behind.

Another strong programme by Save the Children was carried out in collaboration with Aviva Life Insurance called Street to School. Under this plan, nine educational activity centres were set up between Delhi and Kolkata for the poor and working children. It provided children with a year of education before they were sent off to mainstream schools. Additionally, this programme also provided them with food, unconventional education, leisure activities, arts & crafts, music and dance, life-skill workshops, health care, and therapy.

Join hands with Save the Children in its many efforts to redeem and transform the lives of the disadvantaged by correcting the poor child education system in India.
